Perhaps it’s Lisa’s recent time spent in Oklahoma that has had me yearning for a slush from Sonic. A nice happy hour cherry-coconut slush has been calling my name for the last few days. I remember the good ole days of high school when we used to drive over to Sonic everyday after school and before our afterschool activites started to partake of the happy hour. Half price drinks, what a miracle you were. And now, in the second greatest city in the world (Weatherford is still number one) I can’t get anything even close to the glory that is the Sonic slush. Grrr! I am so desperate today that I am pondering a movie theatre icy when Lisa and I go to a movie in a few hours. But you and I both know that won’t hold a candle to Sonics slush. Sonic needs to get it together and bring a franchise up here somewhere. I’d go to Queens to partake of the delights. Or throw it into one of the airports. I’d shuttle out to La Guardia once a month to enjoy the goodness. Throw a girl a bone here! So, here’s wishing all of you who have immediate access to a Sonic joy and drink a slush for me today!

This is a photo from our trip last summer to Hilton Head, South Carolina. It was Meghan’s first ever Sonic visit. The only thing I have to look forward to to ease my Sonic need is my trip to the great state of Oklahoma in January for a wedding. It’s just too long…

Grandma Sally!

(and happy Canada Day to Jeff and Maren)

I’d like to take a moment to give a shoutout to my Grandma Sally who is pretty solid as far as grandmothers go. She has a job, e-mails, uses a cell phone, drives and doesn’t hit pedestrians, hears well enough that you never have to yell at her, still has a solid amount of her hair, is not crazy, almost never asks me how the weather is (you know that odd way that older people have of only talking to you about the weather – grandpa lyle), can hold her liquor like a champion and reads this blog on a daily basis. I’m not saying other peoples grandmothers are crap, but I know a fair share of them who have yet to master the internet and who refuse to carry cell phones and who always have to be yelled at and only talk about the weather. Also, she may be one of the few people who read more than I do. Score one for the home team.

So, Happy Birthday Grandma Sally. I love you and REALLY will see you at Christmas!
