so, one problem with the folks double visit is that maren and i haven’t gotten to talk in about 2 weeks. this is bad news. we usually talk 4-5 times a week, sometimes more than once in the same day. i feel sad and lonely without marmen. (okay, a little overdramatic, but i do really miss talking to her)

mom and dad come back to nyc tonight and then fly out tomorrow. i may pick up the phone to call maren the minute they leave. not only do we have to catch up on one anothers lives, we have to swap mom and dad visit stories. should be interesting. i wonder if mom thought montreal was tiny, or if it only applies to new york and the empire state building?

Thanks to mythbusters, I can answer your burning shark related questions.

Shark Week

1. sharks are attracted to flashlights in dark water

2. poking a shark in the eye would work if you could find the eye in a very short amount of time. good luck with that

3. sharks are not more attracted to dogs splashing or the smell of dogs in the water

4. magnets and magnetic fields do not repel sharks

5. hot peppers (as believed by ancient hawaiians) do not repel sharks

6. playing dead rather than splashing around may indeed keep you alive if sharks are around

see how informative shark week is? gotta love it. one can only assume that this information will come in handy very soon.

Also, i finished a great children’s book last night called The Tale of Despereaux. It’s about a mouse and a princess. What more are you looking for in a book? It was good and i’m very excited about the movie coming out in december.
