At last! I’ve been waiting two long years and they’re back. I love love love the Olympics! Lisa and I did it up right for the opening ceremonies.
1. we ate lisa and brianne style chinese food (two people, way more than two dishes)
2. we made homemade ice cream last night which we enjoyed today. chocolate mint chocolate chip. yum!
3. we dressed in a fashion popular amongst the chinese people called “double pretty”. this is a phrase coined by lisa and her friends when she lived in china for 2 years. allow me to explain a double pretty. the outfit is pretty on top and pretty on bottom, but not pretty when put together. see example below:
As you can see, i am wearing a perfectly fine striped shirt and a perfectly fine striped skirt. however, when in combination, it’s bad news. Also, lisa is wearing a lovely top and equally lovely bottom. but two lovelies in this case make to not so sought after “double pretty”. The thing with the double pretty is that you can see where the wearer was going with their idea. the top is striped, the bottom is striped, they must match, right? sadly, not the case, people of china.
Meghan and I once saw the ultimate in double pretties, the rare triple pretty! that’s right. plaid pants, paisley shirt and polka dot head wrap. and the best part was, it was on a man. it was a glorious but sadly camera-free day!
