Yes, the worlds longest description of last weekends roadtrip continues. Today you will hear about last Sunday. Jeff got up early to go to the game. The girls and I slept in a little and then headed out for the single worst driving experience of our collective lives. Yes, that’s right.

Maren Stefanie Genow used to be a good driver. How could she not be? Zak and Brianne taught her how to drive. Sadly, as the years have passed, she has driven less and less. Jeff almost never lets her drive when they are together and she hasn’t done a lot of driving since arriving in Montreal. Clearly some of us (Brianne and Meghan) can retain safe driving abilities even in the face of infrequent use and some of us (Maren) cannot.

We mistakenly thought it would be smarter for Maren to drive us to an unknown location in her own city rather than any of the rest of us New Yorkers. Uh, wrong. Maren has lived in Montreal for over a year and has been driven by her friend, Tasha, to the games every week during that time. Somehow, my miraculous sister has managed in that time to never really learn the route from her own home to the stadium. I don’t know how you can manage that feat, but a feat it is.

So, we are driving along and Maren points to the right and says, “that’s where the stadium is”. Okay, so one would logically think that at some point we would drive in that direction. But, no! Maren continues to drive  us up a hill and even turns left, but never drives us in the direction of the stadium. She is flustered and lost but will not heed our crazy suggestion of turning in the direction of the place we are going. Tricksy stuff. We finally convince her to turn in that direction and lo and behold, the stadium appears on the horizon. I wish you had all been there to see how upset Maren was. She was so flustered that she started mumbling under her breath about not knowing where we were going and how we needed to find parking and that we were going to be late (which we were not). I can only say that I’m glad Meghan was sitting in the front and not me.

Miracle of miracles, we finally arrived at the game! We had a great time. Jeffs team won! Yeah! And we were sitting next to some fans of the other team who turned out to be really fun people to be sitting next to. They even offered to fly us to Regina (if you are wondering how to pronounce that word, it rhymes with vagina. For serious, you can’t make this stuff up.) to hang out with them this weekend. Aparently engineers make a ton of money, and I obviously chose the wrong career path. Stupid saving lives!

After the game, we went home with Jeff and he and Brianne hit the sauce. Poor Jeff had been unable to drink all weekend due to the game, but he could do it on Sunday. While Jeff and I get along just fine most of the time, we seem to be the best of friends when we’ve both been drinking. It’s a good time. We went to this pub down the way and had lots more drinks which were free (thanks to Jeffs friends commercial for the pub) and then headed back home for one last round of Lisas favorite thing in life, the Nintendo Wii.

So, that was our roadtrip. We had great time and two really nice drives through some scenic areas and then the previously mentioned Target trip that rocked the house! Thanks to the FC’s for hosting us and thanks girls for coming along.
