Zak, John and I went to see Australia on Friday night. It’s by the guy who directed Romeo and Juliet and Moulin Rouge so we thought we’d give it a go. That’s about the only reason I can think of to go to a two hour and forty-five minute epic love story. I had fears it was going to be like the horror that was the movie Pearl Harbor.

Luckily, it was not. It was quite good. The only problem with the epic is that an hour in, I had to pee like crazy. Being a nurse, I thought I’d be able to hold it but sadly could not. I hate going to the bathroom during a movie. Zak goes three or four times (only a slight exaggeration) per film and I try my darndest to never go. Sadly, I had to go this time. And when I was done I stood at the back of the theatre rather than sitting back down and got the joy of standing next to a woman who was crying so loudly and wetly that I thought there was an animal in the theatre for a moment. I have never cried the way she was crying. It was pretty impressive. And I must say, a little over dramatic. I could see shedding a tear or two at one point, but hysterical, over the top, go through a box of tissues crying? No. To quote Lisa, “freaking calm yourself”, lady.

However, if you can manage to avoid the criers, you will like this movie and should see it.
