There was a lovely winter crispness to the air and the stars were shining brightly that fine December night. Three girls were on their way to a traditional holiday viewing of that most lovely of Christmas trees. Slowly strolling along the sidewalk with their fellow New Yorkers, smiling and enjoying the air of shared excitement and holiday magic that fills the air near the tree.

And then we met the Grinch. We crossed the street in front of Radio City and then stopped near a police barricade to take a photo with Radio City in the background as we do every year. Where we stopped was a place the rest of the crossers had to walk around anyway due to the placement of said barricades, so we weren’t in the way. However, evil Grinch snarls as she walks around us “really nice place to stop”. To which Meghan replies “you can go around”. And evil Grinch yells back “why don’t I get the police over here and see who they think is right”. Meghan then happily says, “go ahead” while I mention that perhaps they should hug it out and what a nice display of Christmas spirit this is. Evil woman walks away and then Lisa, who missed all this as she got separated from us in our crossing comes over and says, ” you guys just missed a funny conversation” to which I mention that she just missed Meghan getting into a domestic disturbance.

Oh the magic of Christmas in New York.
