Top of the morning, blog readers. Today, I gift you with the story of my favorite day we spent in Michigan. It all started around 0530 when there was some serious wind and the power went out and Grandma and Grandpa’s house. Maren, Jeff, Kyle and I decided to leave the confines of the power-free house and go to Flint to SONIC! Yes, Michigan got a Sonic and we drove quite a distance to get to it. However, as there are no Sonics in Canada and the nearest one to me is 200 miles away (Lisa and I googled it the minute we moved here), we felt the distance and gas money was totally worth getting to Sonic.

We ordered lunch and enjoyed that like you wouldn’t believe and then we drove over to the bowling alley to see if it was open only to find out that it had no power. And then we did what I’m sure all of you would have done and drove back to the Sonic to get a drink for the road. (How I love you Route 44 vanilla diet coke!)

On our way back to Grandmas we stopped at an outlet mall and got some super bargains as we spent a few hours shopping together. The best part of the outlet mall was the awesome music playing in every store. And, after some time passed, we started dancing in every store. Yes, Nike store got some Genow moves. American Eagle and Gap got the best of the Perretts move busting abilities. We even brought it to the parking lot. No one knew why then and no one knows why now, but it went on for a very long time and was legendary.

Finally we showed our faces at the house where the power was still out and it was suggested that we got to the bar to eat dinner and enjoy some lighted merriment. Needless to say, we said yes to this proposal. Jeff nicely lent us all some sweatshirts so we didn’t have to get our normal clothes all smoke-smelly. And to Trappers we went.

After Trappers, we went to Sport-Ez. Yes, that’s how you spell it. Interesting. Anyway, long story short, Mom scared the waitress by announcing she knew the girls parents and then forced the girl to call her parents who, luckily, liked Mom and showed up. Much, much drinking occurred. We had so many shots that I’m not sure I can give you an accurate count. The best part of the night was Drunk Maren. Drunk Maren rocks the house. She’s funny and a little fiesty and says words that start with F and I don’t mean Fudge, all the time. She’s awesome!

We had a great great day on Dancing Day and then the next day we decided to say adieu to still powerless Grandmas and head to Aunt Tricias before heading home on the 30th. A big thank you to Aunt Tricia and Uncle Dave for taking us to and from the airport multiple times and to Grandma for putting us all up and teaching me and Maren how to make pie crusts and for the presents and general good times. Thanks to all Michiganders and I promise not to let five years lapse before my next visit.
